Line-Field Confocal Optical Coherence Tomography in Dermato-Oncology: Opportunities and Challenges

Aims

The overarching aim of this thesis was to investigate the opportunities and challenges of LC-OCT in the context of KC and precursor lesions.   The specific objectives of the thesis were: 

•    To create a harmonized LC-OCT terminological glossary and identify key image features that correspond to established histopathological criteria for the most common skin cancers
and precursor lesions (Study I). 

•    To explore the interobserver agreement (IOA) of key image features of KC
and precursor lesions (Study II). 

•    To explore the potential of key image features to triage equivocal skin lesions in OTRs (Study III). •    To explore associations between image features using LC-OCT and BCC-specific gene expressions obtained by tape stripping (Study IV).
