Pre-clinical investigations of oral photoprotection to prevent keratinocyte carcinoma
Aim
The overall aim of this thesis was to explore the efficacy of selected phytochemical and pharmaceutical compounds delivered orally to protect against squamous cell carcinoma development in hairless mice (Aim a). The aim was also to investigate whether combinational treatment could improve the photoprotective mechanism of monotherapy (Aim b).
Study objectives
The specific objectives are outlined below:
- To explore the potential of phytochemicals as a source of photoprotection.
- To explore whether certain pharmaceuticals may be repurposed for photoprotection.
- To assess whether combinational treatment improves the photoprotective mechanism of nicotinamide monotherapy.
