Current research

My main research focus lies within the area of clinical and molecular biological epidemiology. Most of the studies are multidisciplinary with a translational aim.

My research is largely centered around human papillomavirus (HPV), vaccination and prevention of cancers associated with HPV. We have established large population-based cohorts collecting information on lifestyle factors and different types of biological samples. We are also engaged in pharmacoepidemiological research with an initial focus on gynecological cancers such as ovarian and endometrial cancer and on skin cancer - and head/neck cancer.

My research group includes 21 researchers, who among other things, work with early diagnostics and prevention through the identification of lifestyle and socio-economic factors, genetic risk factors and other biomarkers for cancer and pre-stages with the aim of improving the prognosis. In 2019 I was appointed visiting professor at Johns Hopkins hospital, Baltimore, USA.
