Current research:
My research focuses on mass spectrometry-based proteomics applied to inflammatory and rare skin diseases. Using state-of-the-art instrumentation and spatial proteomics techniques such as laser capture microdissection, we map the proteome of skin conditions including melanoma, Merkel cell carcinoma, extramammary Paget's disease and sebaceous carcinoma. A key aim is to identify novel disease mechanisms, biomarkers, and therapeutic targets to advance precision dermatology. Across projects, we combine well-phenotyped patient cohorts with advanced proteomics workflows to move from molecular discovery toward clinical application. Our team leads the open-access skin.science data platform, which has reached researchers in over 127 countries.
Main interests
1) Translational skin research and global health 2) Mass spectrometry-based proteomics, spatial proteomics and precision dermatology 3) Rare skin cancers (Merkel cell carcinoma, EMPD, melanoma) Inflammatory skin diseases and fungal skin infections and diagnostics
