Professor Merete Haedersdal receives the prestigious Leon Goldman Memorial Award 2023
Prof. Merete Haedersdal's main interest is laser therapy in dermatology. Her overall research goal is to translate experimental basic science into clinical benefit for large groups of patients to fight skin cancer. For more than a decade, Merete has been affiliated with Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, pioneering a new treatment concept 'laser-assisted drug delivery', which is now world-wide taken into clinical practice.
Merete Haedersdal receives the Leon Goldman Award 2023 for demonstrating longitudinal excellence throughout her career in performing clinical laser research. In addition, the jury has placed great emphasis on her high ethical standards and dedication to patients.
The Leon Goldman Award was established in 1998 to recognize a practicing physician whose career demonstrates excellence in clinical research, patient care, or education, related to medical lasers. The award is named after MD Leon Goldman - also known as the 'Father of Laser Medicine'.
The award will be presented in April 2023 at the 42nd Annual Conference of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery in Phoenix, Arizona.
