Another recognition for one of our young researchers
The European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV), one of the world’s most prestigious organizations in dermatology and venereology, annually awards scholarships to young researchers at its autumn conference. The scholarships are granted based on applicants’ research activities, documented in recognized articles and presentations at international and national scientific conferences. This year, doctor and PhD student at the Danish Research Center for Skin Cancer, Kevin Jacobsen, received one of the scholarships.
New scanning method
Over the past four years, under the leadership of Professor and Chief Physician Merete Hædersdal and in collaboration with Bispebjerg Hospital, Kevin has investigated and laid the groundwork for the use of a new scanning method, LC-OCT, which can create digital biopsies of the skin. The long-term goal is to implement the method, which could lead to fewer traditional biopsies and faster treatment decisions, benefiting many skin cancer patients.

10 scientific articles and 7 presentations in 4 years
This extensive project has resulted in ten articles published in international journals and seven presentations at international conferences. The project has received significant recognition, including this scholarship.

Kevin Jacobsen received a cash prize, access to this year’s conference, and a one-year membership of EADV at a ceremony in Paris, where the conference was held.
