New recommendation: You should always use sunscreen with at least SPF 30

In collaboration with the Danish Health Authority, the Danish Dermatological Society, the Danish Meteorological Institute, the Danish Cancer Society, the Danish Safety Technology Authority, and the Ministry of Environment, we now recommend that you always use sunscreen with at least SPF 30, whether you are in Denmark or abroad.

Previously, we recommended at least SPF 15 in Denmark, but since we know that most Danes apply too little sunscreen, SPF 30 will provide better protection.

Remember the 1-1-2 rule when applying sunscreen

The amount of sunscreen is important to ensure adequate protection against the sun's radiation. The rule of thumb is "1-1-2" = 1 handful of sunscreen for 1 body, 2 times with 20 minutes between each application.

If you apply according to the 1-1-2 rule, the protective effect lasts for many hours, and you don't need to reapply multiple times during the day. However, if you spend a lot of time in the water, it's good to give your skin an extra layer of sunscreen occasionally.

Sunscreen also protects against wrinkles

If you care about your skin's appearance, remember that there is a bonus to using sunscreen. In addition to protecting against skin cancer, sunscreen also protects against wrinkles. When it comes to wrinkles, sunlight and smoking are two significant causes, so if you can avoid them, you are well on your way to preventing wrinkles.

Enjoy spring, summer, and the sun, and take care of your skin. You will be wearing it for a long time.
